Three Robbery Suspects Arrested; Pistol and Fireworks Seized

Investigation into a robbery leads to arrest of three suspects; illegal pistol and fireworks seized.

On May 3, 2024, San Mateo Police Department arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred on December 22, 2023.

On December 22, 2023, at 5:55 p.m., San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call from a community member stating there was a fight near San Mateo High School. Officers responded to the scene and spoke to the victim of the fight. Officers learned the victim was assaulted by three suspects, punched by a suspect with “brass knuckles,” and his jewelry was stolen. The victim had multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

San Mateo Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) took over the investigation. Over the next few months, the Crime Reduction Unit was able to identify the three suspects involved in the robbery and obtained arrest and search warrants for each of the subjects. The suspects were identified as Joshua Ferri, 20 years old, and two male juveniles aged 16 and 17 years old.

On May 3, 2024, San Mateo Police Department, with the assistance of the Foster City Police Department, planned to arrest the three suspects and served the search warrants. Officers located Ferri and the 17-year-old juvenile in San Mateo and both were arrested. The 16-year-old juvenile was located at the San Francisco Airport and arrested. Ferri was later booked into San Mateo County Jail and the two juveniles were booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Detention Facility.

During a search of the suspect’s residences, officers located evidence of the robbery that occurred back on December 22, 2023. Officers also located an unregistered and illegal pistol, illegal drugs and evidence of drug sales. Officers also located over 1,400 pounds of illegal dangerous fireworks.

This investigation is still on going. If anyone has any additional information about this incident, contact the San Mateo Police Department.
