MEDIA RELEASE
Announcing the 2024 Police Officer Memorial Service for San Luis Obispo County:
A solemn tribute to the fallen heroes of law enforcement.

The Arroyo Grande Police Department is honored to host this year’s Police Officer Memorial on May 16th at 10:00 a.m. San Luis Obispo County law enforcement agencies and the community will gather at Heritage Square Park in Arroyo Grande to recognize the Law Enforcement Officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2023.

National Police Week is celebrated during the week of May 15 under President Kennedy’s decree to honor the individuals who risk their lives every day in the line of duty.

On Peace Officers Memorial Day and during Police Week, we celebrate the remarkable courage of our law enforcement community and honor the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their communities.

National Police Week is a time for police officers to honor our fallen colleagues, ensure the support of those surviving them, and remember our commitment to keeping people safe. Citizens and civilians can also celebrate the day by showing love and gratitude to the police officers around them. National Police Week is a time of honor, gratitude, remembrance, servitude, and peer support.
