Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident, with an arrest made at the scene.
On May 6, at approximately 8:23 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2400 block of North Washington Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female engaged in a physical altercation. Police located a 26-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police also made contact with 23-year-old Demy Lee, who was taken into custody without incident, and recovered a 9mm handgun.
The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. Following a brief investigation, Detective Merced identified Demy Lee as the suspect in the shooting incident, and obtained warrants for her arrest.
Lee has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Discharging a Firearm on a City Street
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $51,000 cash-only bail.
