Search Warrant Leads to Recovery of Stolen Property and Bird-Fighting Ring

On March 19, 2024, at approximately 1313 hours, the Rohnert Park Department of Pubic Safety (RPDPS) received a report of a Burglary at a local storage facility in the 6000 block of Commerce Blvd. Responding RPDPS Officers determined that the reporting party had been a victim of Grand Theft with a total loss amount estimated in excess of $22,000.  Through their investigation RPDPS Patrol Officers identified Audrina Renee McPeters as a suspect. Additionally, RPDPS Patrol Officers identified a residence in the 3400 block of Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa as a location of interest.
 
On March 21, 2024, RPDPS Officers issued a county wide Stop and Hold for McPeters in relation to the following California Penal Code Violations: two (2) counts of 182(a)(1) PC - Conspiracy , one (1) count of 459 PC - Burglary, and one (1) count of 487(a) PC - Grand Theft. With the assistance of the Santa Rosa Police Department, McPeters was located in Santa Rosa and she was arrested for theabove listed charges and booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
 
On March 22, 2024, further investigation lead by RPDPS Detectives and Patrol Officers served a search warrant at a residence in the 3400 block of Stony Point Rd, Santa Rosa with the assistance of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. RPDPS Detectives and Patrol Officers located a cache of stolen property belonging to the Victim among other violations of California Penal Codes.
 
During the execution of the search warrant, numerous animal cruelty violations were discovered on the property, including approximately 1,000 game birds believed to be raised for the purposes of fighting.  Sonoma County Animal Services responded to the property and removed five (5) malnourished Horses and two (2) malnourished canines and quarantined the game birds.
 
During the search warrant service evidence was located which led to the arrest of Jesus Miguel Santoyo Rodriguez for Thirsty-Six (36) Misdemeanor counts of 597i(a) PC - Possession of Gaffs/Slashers.
 
During the course of the investigation, Jose Guadalupe Luna-Ruiz was also identified as a suspect involved in the original theft of the storage unit. On April 2, 2024, Santa Rosa Police Department Officers contacted Luna-Ruiz and notified RPDPS Officers who responded to the scene and arrested Luna Ruiz for the following California Penal Code violations: one (1) count of 182(a)(1) PC - Conspiracy, one (1) count of 459 PC - Burglary, one (1) count of 487(a) PC - Grand Theft, and one (1) count of 496(a) PC -Receiving stolen property.
