Robberies
There were five robberies during the past week.
On Monday, 04-29-24, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Saint Francis Boulevard on a report of an altercation. The victim stated that she had lent a vehicle to a friend who claimed that another individual would be returning it. When the suspect arrived, he asked the victim for a ride to the airport. Upon refusal, the suspect became upset and attempted to take money and car keys from the victim’s purse. During the struggle, the suspect bit the victim’s hand, causing lacerations to two fingers. Later, the suspect was detained and said he rented a vehicle for $250 for the week, which appeared to have mechanical issues. He was advised to return the car to the victim. Subsequently, a discussion took place between the suspect and victim regarding the vehicle, during which the victim demanded additional money. The suspect refused to give the victim more money, and an argument ensued between both parties. The suspect said the victim attacked him, ripping off his shirt and biting him multiple times. The suspect sustained bite marks on his back and shoulder. He was treated by American Medical Response and transported to a local hospital.
On Wednesday, 05-01-24, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a victim was robbed of her iPhone 13, valued at $500, at Marchbank Park, located on the unit block of South Parkview Avenue, by two unknown suspects. The victim said that while she was at the park with a friend, a male and female came up and demanded her necklace and phone. The victim got scared and tried to run away but was caught by the suspects. The victim was then choked by the suspects and had her phone taken. After taking the victim’s phone, both suspects fled. This investigation is continuing.
On Friday, 05-03-24, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to Bank of America, located on the 300 block of Gellert Boulevard, on a report of a robbery. An ATM service technician stated that while he was servicing an ATM, a suspect approached and pushed him, while a second suspect removed containers holding an unknown amount of money from the ATM. Both suspects fled in a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5” tall, wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black face mask. This investigation is continuing.
On Friday, 05-03-24, at approximately 12:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. A loss prevention employee stated that two suspects had concealed merchandise in their bags and were asked to return the stolen items. The suspects returned a tee shirt and socks. As the suspects were leaving the store, they cursed at employees. Aware that there was additional stolen merchandise, the loss prevention employee followed the suspects outside, accompanied by two assistant managers. The first suspect spat on one of the assistant manager’s chest, leading to them pushing each other. The second suspect attempted to spit on the other assistant manager but missed. Following this, the second suspect pointed a canister of pepper spray at the first assistant manager and then at the loss prevention employee. While this was occurring, the first suspect brandished a knife and pointed it at the first assistant manager. Both suspects then fled on foot. Later, both suspects were located on Serramonte Boulevard, across from the Highway 280 northbound on-ramp. The loss prevention employee positively identified both suspects. Approximately $400 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered. The first suspect, a 26-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and conspiracy. The second suspect, a 20-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and conspiracy.
On Sunday, 05-05-24, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to Foot Locker at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. A manager stated that two suspects entered the store, took approximately $810 worth of merchandise, and exited without paying. Once outside, two managers requested the return of the merchandise, but the suspects ignored them and continued walking. The managers attempted to retrieve the merchandise, and one of the suspects shoved a manager on the arm. Both suspects then ran out of the mall and fled in a vehicle driven by a third suspect. The vehicle was later located in the area of San Jose Avenue and Alemany Boulevard in San Francisco, where a traffic stop was conducted. Two guns were found in the vehicle. The manager who was shoved positively identified the two suspects who had entered the store. The suspect who shoved the manager, a 20-year-old Concord resident, was arrested for robbery, conspiracy, and several gun charges. The other suspect who entered the store, a 20-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, conspiracy, and several gun charges. Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
