Narrative:
 
 
 
On May 7, 2024, investigators from the Detention Services Classification Unit and VC FOCUS arrested Maceo Holmes and Aaron Holmes for conspiring to smuggle illegal narcotics into the Ventura County Jail.
 
In an effort to identify suspects involved and prevent the narcotics from entering a jail facility, the Todd Road Jail Classification Unit, with the assistance of VC FOCUS, launched an investigation into illegal narcotics being smuggled into a jail facility. 
 
During the investigation, it was discovered that incarcerated person Aaron Holmes conspired with Maceo Holmes to deliver narcotics and smuggle illegal narcotics into a Ventura County Jail Facility.  The Todd Road Jail Classification Unit was able to prevent the dangerous narcotics from entering a jail facility and arrest the suspects for the conspiracy. 
 
On 05/07/24, Maceo Holmes was located and arrested in Oxnard and subsequently booked into the Ventura County Jail for Violation of PC 4573(a) - Bringing/Sending Drugs into a Jail Facility and PC 182(a)(1) - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

On 05/09/24, Aaron Holmes was supplementally booked for PC 4573(a) - Bringing/Sending Drugs into a Jail Facility and PC 182(a)(1) - Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and remains incarcerated in the Ventura County Jail for other charges. 
 
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s Classification Unit is focused on ensuring the safety and security of all Ventura County detention facilities.  This includes, but is not limited to, investigating crimes that occur both in and out of a custodial facility and conducting risk assessments.
