Traffic Advisory - Funeral Service
Bordentown City extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of New Jersey State Police Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea who passed away suddenly in the line of duty.
The viewing and services will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday under the care of Bordentown Home for Funerals while being hosted at St. Mary’s R.C. Church. Given the large crowds expected to pay their respects, we ask for everyone’s cooperation over the next few days to minimize disruptions as Trooper Bethea is laid to rest.
TUESDAY, 5/14
Viewing at St. Mary’s R.C. Church from 3- 7 pm
- All roadways will remain OPEN
- However, NO PARKING will be permitted between the hours of 1 – 7 pm along Crosswicks St from Clara Barton/MacFarland schools to Farnsworth Ave.
WEDNESDAY, 5/15
Service at St. Mary’s R.C. Church from 10 am – 12 noon
STREET CLOSURES / NO PARKING:
- Crosswicks from Union St to Farnsworth Ave (traffic will be permitted to turn onto Union STt)
- Second St from Crosswicks St to Elizabeth St
- Borden St from West St to Crosswicks St.
- Hopkinson St from Crosswicks St to West St.
- E. Burlington from Myrtle Ave to Crosswicks St
NO PARKING ONLY:
Elizabeth from Second St to Spring St (residents will still be permitted to come and go)
AVAILABLE PARKING LOTS:
*Police will be stationed at Farnsworth & Crosswicks and Crosswicks & Union to help direct attendees to available parking lots at:
- Gilder Field (behind Carslake Community Center)
- The former BAI site at Elizabeth St near Lucas Dr
- RiverLine train station
- Clare Estate lot off of Lafayette St
- Consolidated Fire House
PUBLIC WORKS OPERATIONS:
Street Sweeper – On Wednesday, 5/15 ONLY – the street sweeper will attempt to clean Crosswicks St prior to all closure activities and operate where possible throughout the day. However, parking restrictions will not be enforced and tickets will not be issued.
Recycling Center – The Public Works yard will be closed to the public on Wednesday during the normal 8 am – 12 noon drop off hours.
Brush pick-up – Public Works will continue to collect brush and lawn debris throughout town and make every effort to collect from homes on the closed routes before services commence.
