Newark Police Department Crime Blotter May 6 - 12, 2024
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MAY 6, 2024:
7:11 AM Officer Williams was dispatched to a vehicle burglary near Stevenson Boulevard & Balentine Drive. Entry was from window smash with no reported loss.
9:31 AM Officer S. Torres responded to a disturbance near Hydrangea Way & Pandorea Terrace. A 42-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was arrested for narcotics and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
11:02 AM Officer Williams was on routine patrol near Thornton & Cedar Avenues and contacted a pedestrian, a 43-year-old unsheltered male from Fremont. Upon investigation, he was arrested for an outstanding warrant and released on scene with a citation.
5:47 PM Officer McCuin responded to a vehicle burglary that occurred near Auburn Avenue & Truckee Court. The locks to the vehicle were forced open with no reported loss.
TUESDAY, MAY 7, 2024:
10:10 PM Officer Piquette was dispatched to the 8300 block of Central Avenue for a vehicle burglary. The lock to the vehicle door was forced open. Loss included the vehicle’s license plates.
1:51 PM Officer S. Torres responded to a battery occurring near Windermere Drive & Bosworth Court. A 58-year-old male from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for battery.
2:09 PM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft occurring near Bayonne Drive & Cherry Street.
3:16 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft on the 37200 block of Magnolia Street.
4:23 PM Officer Losier responded arrived to Mowry Avenue & Alpenrose Court for the report of a vehicle burglary. The passenger window was shattered with no loss.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 8, 2024:
12:17 PM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to the 39200 block of Cherry Street to investigate a vehicle burglary. Loss included computer equipment and packages.
3:23 PM Officer Quinonez arrived to the area of Stevenson Boulevard & Parada Street and investigated a vehicle burglary. Loss included a compressor, tools and personal items.
THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2024:
11:24 AM Officer Piquette arrested a 42-year-old male out of Redwood City in the Police Department lobby. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
11:59AM Officer Stevenson investigated a cargo theft incident from a delivery van on the 39300 block of Cherry St.
2:19 PM Officer Lara investigated a theft from a gym locker where credit cards were later used in another city.
7:50 PM Officer C. Torres responded to the 36800 block of Ruschin Drive for a disturbance and arrested a 56-year-ol male out of Newark for a warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2024:
7:43 AM Four window smash vehicle burglaries occurred on Hickory Street. One occurred on Bristol Place, one occurred on Jetty Way, and one occurred on Harbor Light Road. All occurred overnight.
8:17 AM An additional vehicle burglary was reported to have occurred overnight on Joaquin Murieta Ave. Entry was made through the sunroof.
8:26 AM Officer Piquette arrested a 32-year-old male out of Newark for a restraining order violation in the Old Town Center.
SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2024:
3:58 AM A 27-year-old male out of Newark was arrested by Officer Orozco for DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Newark Boulevard near Brittany Ave. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
12:34 AM A 39-year-old transient male committed a vandalism to a business and fled from officers in the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard. Officers apprehended and confirmed the identity of the suspect who was placed under arrest and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
7:58 PM Officer Medina arrested a 62-year-old male out of Newark for a warrant on Cedar Court. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
SUNDAY, MAY 12, 2024:
7:16 AM Officer Williams contacted a 45-year-ol male on Cedar Court who was in possession of drug paraphernalia and burglary tools (shaved keys). He was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
8:35 AM Officer Torres contacted a 54-year-old male out of Newark on Olive Street and placed him under arrest for a felony warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
1:55 PM Officer Williams investigated an elderly abuse case on Flanders Drive. The suspect was a 53-year-old-male out of Newark who was reported to batter and threaten the victim. He was initially uncooperative with following officers’ orders and was eventually taken into custody and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
