On 05-14-24 at 10:17 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Humes Road and Kennedy Road for a found body near the railroad. The found body was discovered by railroad staff in the area. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of a deceased individual at the scene.
The identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. The Janesville Police Department is working diligently to gather information and to conduct a thorough investigation.
There is no imminent threat to the public stemming from this incident. The Janesville Police Department assures the community that there is no known danger to any residents.
Further updates on the investigation will be provided as the investigation progresses. At this time, the identity of the deceased will not be released.
