17-year-old Leads Deputies on a Pursuit Before Crashing into a House and Being Taken into Custody

INCIDENT: V.C. 10851- Grand Theft Auto, P.C. 496D- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, P.C. 182- Conspiracy, and P.C. 594(b)(1)- Vandalism Damages of $400 or more
LOCATION: Cholame Road/Cahuenga Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): 17-year-old Resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 1:12 a.m. Deputy Puga from the Victorville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 White Dodge Charger. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued.
The driver, who was later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile, drove at high rate of speeds down El Evado and residential areas. The vehicle came to a stop after crashing into a garage and a gas meter causing a gas leak. Deputies immediately began to evacuate homes in the area.
Deputies conducted an area check, locating the suspect on the roof of a residence and was taken into custody.
Through investigation, it was found the vehicle was reported stolen out of Adelanto and the suspect did not have permission to drive the vehicle. The suspect was booked at High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for V.C. 10851- Grand Theft Auto, P.C. 496D- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, P.C. 182- Conspiracy, and P.C. 594(b)(1)- Vandalism Damages of $400 or more.
