Suspects Identified and Arrested for the Assault of Two Teenagers Near a Local Park

LOCATION: 1st Street/Avenue B, Yucaipa

SUMMARY: On Friday, May 3, 2024, Yucaipa Station deputies were dispatched to a local gas station where a victim was located with multiple lacerations and a stab wound from a knife. Victim #1 was transported to a local area hospital by AMR for additional treatment. A short time later, deputies learned a second victim was at a local area hospital with multiple stab wounds. Both minor teenage victims were treated at a local hospital for their serious injuries and later released.
Deputies learned the victims were walking past Center Park when they were confronted by a group of 10-15 teenagers who were at the park. A fight ensued with numerous subjects assaulting the victims. During the incident, the victims were stabbed multiple times by the two suspects and fell to the ground. While on the ground, one of the head of one of the victims was stomped on by an unknown female teenager. The victims fled the area and were chased by the suspect's group.
Deputies and detectives from the Yucaipa Station conducted an extensive follow-up investigation and located several video recordings of the assault. Through investigative leads, the two primary suspects were identified.
On May 9, 2024, deputies and detectives served a search warrant at the 15-year-old male suspect's residence in Beaumont. Deputies served two additional search warrants at two residences related to suspect Kessler Pelfrey. The juvenile suspect was arrested and booked into San Bernardino Juvenile Hall. Pelfrey was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
