INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: 8th Street / Archibald Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
INVOLVED PARTY: Damian Lopez-Paredes, 52-year-old male from Rialto
INVOLVED PARTY: Joshua Bay, 43-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY: On May 13, 2024, at about 2:52 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Archibald Avenue and 8th Street.
A motorcycle driven by Joshua Bay was traveling south on Archibald Avenue in the number one lane. A red Chevrolet Silverado driven by Damian Lopez-Paredes was traveling north on Archibald Avenue in a dedicated left turn lane near the intersection of 8th Street. Bay collided into Lopez-Paredes as he attempted to make a left turn onto 8th Street.
Bay was transported to San Antonio Regional Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by the medical staff, Bay was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. Lopez-Paredes was uninjured.
Deputies Ogas and Salinas from the Rancho Cucamonga Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
