DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS UPDATES - May 15, 2024
Paving:
Work will start on Goldenview Drive which is anticipated to last until May 24th. Work will consist in the water tank area with an install of a new Verizon cell phone pole tower. See www.townofwestspringfield.org/pavingcalendar for additional information.
Sewer Improvements/Maintenance:
In addition to construction projects, residents in the area of New Bridge Street including FL Roberts car wash gas station, and one service line to Volvo Dealer should expect a 7am drinking water shutdown. All area businesses and homes will be notified individually.
Unidirectional Flushing Program:
Please be advised the Department of Public Works will be continuing its water main flushing program throughout the next couple of weeks.
No interruption of water service is expected during the flushing program. Some consumers may experience temporary discoloration and low water pressure to their home or place of business. If you notice discolored water, run COLD water in your bathtub until it runs clear. If residents experience any change in water quality after the flushing is complete or have questions about the program, they should contact Deputy Director of Water Michael O'Connell at (413) 263-3230.

Trash Pick Up All Routes:
Due to construction in multiple areas, Republic Services wants to share the following announcement about trash:
- Trash on all routes are subject to be picked up earlier than your normal time due to the construction.
- To ensure your trash is picked up, your barrel must be out by 6:00 a.m. on your designated trash day (we suggest you place your trash and recycling carts out in the evening prior to your trash day).
- This will be in effect for all residents until September 1, 2024.
