Today, May 15, 2024, at approximately 6pm, Clayton County Emergency Services (EMS) were contacted to respond to the Jail in reference to (1) inmate being stabbed during a fight.

SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN immediately activated his Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to investigate.

A total of 3 inmates were involved.

Nicholas Hill (7-31-02)
Megale Chadwick (7-8-92)
Hakim Shahid (11-27-94)


Video surveillance shows Megale Chadwick standing in the dayroom area of the housing unit by himself looking out the window.

Hakim Shahid comes down the stairs and stands next to Chadwick, unprovoked, strikes, and body slams Chadwick.

Shahid gets on top of Chadwick and continues to punch him as Chadwick tries to block and defend himself. 

Nicholas Hill joins the altercation by coming down the stairs, introducing a shank (from the structure of the building) into a fist fight, and stabbing Shahid, as he’s still on top of Chadwick.

Jail Officers, along with Command staff, responded and took control of the situation in less than 1 minute from the start of the fight. Jail Medical and Clayton 911 (EMS) was called and responded approximately 6 minutes later.

Shahid was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Nicholas Hill (7-31-02) is now being Charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Prohibited Items

-Clayton County Medical Examiner 
-Georgia Bureau of Investigations 

SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN and the entire Clayton County Sheriff’s Office extend their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Hakim Shahid during this difficult time.
