Police Seek Help Identifying Business Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-picture female suspect in connection with a business robbery that occurred on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

At approximately 4 p.m., Police responded to the Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center, located on Pennington Street near New Jersey Railroad Avenue, on a call of a robbery. When the suspect attempted to leave the store with $100.00 worth of merchandise without paying for it, employees locked the doors to prevent her from leaving. The suspect shoved a female worker, causing her to fall to the floor. The suspect then unlocked the door and fled, heading westbound on Pennington Street. The victim was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans, and a black hat.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
