Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of May 6-12, 2024
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were three robberies during the past week.
On Tuesday, 05-07-24, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Mission Street and Evergreen Avenue on a report of a robbery. The victim said that a suspect approached her in front of her residence on the unit block of Rice Street and forcibly took her $300 gold necklace. There was a second suspect who acted as a lookout. Upon hearing the victim scream, the victim’s husband came out and chased the suspects, who fled eastbound on Evergreen Avenue. The victim described the first suspect as a thin Hispanic male, 5’4” tall, aged 20 to 25, with black hair and black eyes. This investigation is continuing.
On Sunday, 05-12-24, at approximately 4:37 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Nordstrom Rack at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. A loss prevention employee stated that a suspect entered the store, selected merchandise, placed the items into a shopping cart, proceeded to the checkout, paid for some of the selected merchandise, and then exited the store. Once outside the store, the loss prevention employee confronted the suspect, who dropped four bags containing both unpaid and paid merchandise onto the ground. The loss prevention employee then held onto the suspect’s arms. Moments later, the suspect retrieved a bag of unpaid merchandise and forcefully walked away while the loss prevention employee continued to hold onto the suspect. The suspect stepped off the curb, causing the loss prevention employee to release his grip. A second later, the suspect returned, took another bag containing paid items, and left. The value of merchandise taken was approximately $110. The value of merchandise recovered was approximately $720. The suspect fled in a black GMC Terrain southbound on Gellert Boulevard. The suspect was described as a heavyset Black female in her forties, wearing all black clothing. This investigation is continuing.
On Wednesday, 05-08-24, at approximately 4:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to Old Navy at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. A cashier stated that while a customer handed her a $100 bill, a suspect entered the store and looked at the bill in her hand as well as the registers. The cashier said she was scared and was concerned for her safety. The suspect proceeded to walk behind the counter, yanked on a cash register, and threw it on the ground several times. Once the suspect was able to break open the cash register, the suspect took $293.78 and fled. Shortly after, officers located and detained the suspect in a nearby store. A witness was able to positively identify the suspect. The suspect, a 46-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
