Attempted 1st Degree Homicide

On 05/18/2024 at 9:35pm, Janesville Police and Fire responded to 1933 W. Court St, Walgreen’s, for two people stabbed inside the store.  When officers arrived, they located two victims with multiple stab wounds inside the store.  Officers and responding fire units provided aid and transported the victims to a local hospital.  The suspect had fled the scene on foot.  This act of violence was unprovoked and the victims did not know the suspect.
 
Other arriving Officers and Rock County Deputies established a perimeter around the area.  The Janesville Police Department drone was deployed and a subject was located walking nearby the scene.  Officers contacted Edward Toyer, 27 years old who had the victim’s blood on him.  He was taken into custody without incident.  
 
The victims in this incident are both recovering from the injuries at this time.  The investigation is on-going and Toyer will be arrested for the following charges:
