Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 5/19/2024 at 6:45 P.m. his deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on Bell Rd south of US 12 in Milton Township.  The investigation, which is still underway, indicates that 27-year-old Leon House was traveling northeast on Bell Rd at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle entering the curve.  House struck a tree with the side of his vehicle. 
House was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.  He went by SMCAS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  Deputies suspect that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.  Niles Township Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
