DETAILS: Ptl. Siani was detailed to Barnes & Noble for a shoplifting. Investigation found that a shoplifter had removed the contents of two MAGIC Commander Collector card decks and concealed them into the sweatshirt he was wearing. An employee saw him doing this and asked the man if he planned on paying for the items. He said he would, but just left the store without paying. The employee followed and copied down the license plate of the car the suspect got into. Investigation by Det. Fiore determined that the owner of the car, Raymond Hegyi, was the shoplifter. On April 15th, Hegyi turned himself in, was charged with shoplifting and released pending a future Court date.

DETAILS: Ptl. Buchanan was assisting with a disabled car on U.S. Route 1 which was determined to be displaying a fake PA license plate. While on scene, a silver Lexus sedan drove up to pickup the occupant of the disabled car, and was also found to be displaying a fake PA license plate. The fake license plates were printed on paper, and the colors were running off of them from the rain. The driver of the Lexus was asked to provide his license, but claimed he left his wallet at home. He then gave officers a fake name. When he was finally identified as Mikita Palaukou, he was found to have criminal warrants for his arrest from both Trenton and Hamilton. Palaukou was processed at WWPD and later turned over to Trenton police on their warrant.

DETAILS: Patrol Units were detailed to a shoplifting at Sunglass Hut. Investigation found that Emiah Lewis and two male suspects, each of whom concealed a pair of designer sunglasses, left without paying. Lewis had concealed a pair of Coach sunglasses into her purse. An alert mall security officer followed the suspects as they walked out of the mall and to their car. The two males got into the car, but before Lewis was able to get there, they noticed the security officer and fled the scene leaving her behind. Officers located Lewis as she was walking away from the mall. Lewis was also found to have multiple warrants for her arrest, including one from West Windsor. She was processed at WWPD and later she was released from custody pending future court dates.

DETAILS: While Ptl. Caulfield was on patrol of Nassau Park Pavilion, an employee of Wegmans advised him that a shoplifter had just stolen several bottles of liquor. Upon checking the area, Ptl. Caulfield found Shawn Williams hiding underneath a car, pretending to be asleep. He continued to feign being asleep as officers pulled him out from under the car, and carried him into the back of a police car. Williams also had a warrant for his arrest from Trenton. He was processed at WWPD and released pending future court dates.

LOCATION OCCURRED: Neighboring developments of Freedom Village & Parc

DETAILS: Ptl. LaForge and Ptl. Mangone investigated a motor vehicle theft and a series of motor vehicle burglaries that occurred at the Parc at Princeton Junction and neighboring Freedom Village development. Investigation found that during the overnight hours from 4/14 into 4/15, a grey Honda CR-V was stolen, and a Ford SUV had approximately $30 in change stolen from inside, while both vehicles were parked in the Parc development. The stolen Honda CR-V was then driven around Freedom Village where three suspects were observed on video getting into and out of it, checking for open car doors. Two vehicles were entered at Freedom Village. Damage to a KIA sedan’s steering column indicated that the suspects tried to steal it. A Chevrolet sedan had a wallet stolen from inside. The stolen Honda CR-V was found abandoned in Franklin Township (Somerset County) later that day.

DETAILS: Ptl. Buchanan was detailed to Dick’s Sporting Goods to investigate a shoplifting from the day before. Investigation found that Anthony Grispon had selected several articles of premium sportswear which he took into a dressing room. While inside the dressing room he removed security tags from the clothing, put them on underneath his own clothing, then walked out of the store without paying. When Grispon got to his car he realized that he left his keys somewhere in the store. He took off the stolen clothing he was wearing, hid them underneath his car, then went back into the store to find his keys. While he went to find his keys, store employees took all the stolen clothing back. Grispon returned to his car with his keys, saw that all his proceeds (valued at $1,175.00) were gone, and left the scene. Ptl. Buchanan charged Grispon with shoplifting and he has a future court date pending.

DETAILS: Ptl. Collins and Sgt. W. Jones were detailed to the Target store for a shoplifter who was being detained by store Loss Prevention. When officers arrived, they were told that the shoplifter had fled. Officers then spotted her running toward the parking lot. They pursued her on foot, but she quickly got into an awaiting vehicle, and the driver sped away with her. Through investigation, Alyssa Martin was identified as the shoplifter who had placed $293.63 worth of merchandise into a shopping cart and attempted to leave without paying. She was charged with shoplifting and eluding for fleeing from officers who were trying to arrest her.
