Press Release: Fatal Traffic Collision on May 19, 2024 on Niles Canyon Road
On May 19, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Fremont Police Officers responded to the report of a motorcyclist down in the eastbound direction of Niles Canyon Road, west of Palomares Canyon Road. Fremont officers arrived on scene and discovered a solo, adult male motorcyclist had struck the south guardrail protector where he was ejected into the brush bordering the Niles Canyon Creek. The male was pronounced deceased soon after emergency personnel arrived on scene.
The Fremont Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit responded and assumed the collision investigation. Alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor in this collision. The deceased male was a 65-year-old resident of Fremont.
This is Fremont’s second fatal traffic collision in 2024.
