ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Richardson was turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for further court proceedings in Montgomery County Court.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: The Amsterdam Police Department conducted an investigation into the sales of controlled substances by Kasa Richardson occurring within and throughout the greater Amsterdam area. During the investigation Richardson did sell a controlled substance to a police source. As a result of the investigation the charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd were presented to a Montgomery County grand jury for an indictment. The grand jury decision returned with an indictment against Richardson on the aforementioned charges. A Montgomery County Court warrant was then issued for the arrest of Richardson.
On 5/22/2024 Amsterdam Police detectives observed Richardson operating a vehicle in the City of Johnstown. A traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of the Johnstown Police Department. Richardson was then taken into custody and transported to Amsterdam Police headquarters for processing later being turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for arraignment. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Johnstown Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
