Wilmington Police arrest man on gun and drug charges.
Beginning in April, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales by 44-year-old Demichael Showell. On May 21, at approximately 9:36 a.m., Showell was taken into custody without incident in the 200 block of West 29th Street, and police recovered 92.15 grams of fentanyl laced marijuana. Subsequently, police executed a search warrant in the 500 block of East 35th Street, and recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun, and drug paraphernalia.
Showell has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was released after posting $12,100 secured bail.
