City of Hoboken and Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee announce LGBTQ+ Pride events
The City of Hoboken and Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee today announced a series of events in celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. With activities ranging from artistic expressions and pet parades to family-friendly gatherings and community celebrations, Hoboken invites everyone to join in the festivities and show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity and strength of our community,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “I invite everyone to join us in these events to show our support for our LGBTQIA neighbors and to promote inclusiveness and acceptance throughout Hoboken. Thank you to the Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee and Office of Constituent Services for working together to organize these fun-filled events for the community as well as our sponsors.”
The Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee was established through an Executive Order signed by Mayor Bhalla earlier this year. The mission of the committee is to promote inclusiveness for all Hoboken residents, workers, and students by raising awareness of unique issues faced by LGBTQIA+ members of the Hoboken community, proposing solutions to address those issues, and fostering a culture of acceptance and affirmation of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.
“I am immensely grateful to Mayor Bhalla and his administration for their invaluable support in establishing the Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee,” said Laura Knittel, advisor to the committee and the City’s LGBTQIA+ Liaison. “Despite being in its early stages, the committee has already undertaken the task of organizing a vibrant Pride celebration throughout the month of June here in Hoboken. There is much more to come as we continue to explore the many ways the committee will serve the community, focusing on diversity, inclusion, tolerance, and above all, love. Let’s foster an environment where everyone can thrive.”
