Full Notification

The Janesville Police Department is moving toward a new look on our squads. We would like to officially notify the community that as of today one of the newly designed patrol squads will be in use.
 
It has been approximately fifteen years since the department has changed what the community sees patrolling the streets. We want to assure everyone that in fact the redesigned squad is a City of Janesville police vehicle so there is no confusion.
 
The subdued nature of the graphics on the new design is based on scientific studies related to distracted drivers and the highly detailed graphics on emergency vehicles along with the flash patterns of lights. Several years ago we changed the emergency lights to have less of a flashing pattern and now we are moving towards having a less distractive design.  Other agencies throughout the state and country have taken notice of this and are also moving toward this type of design.  
 
There will be five newly designed vehicles this year along with a UTV and F-150. We will share more information once those vehicles are stickered.  In the near future will expand on how we came up with the new design and expand on the case studies.
