DETAILS: On May 24, 2024, at approximately 7:35 pm, Officers were dispatched to a major crash at the intersection of West Amarillo Blvd and N Florida St. Upon their arrival they discovered a 2013 Chevy Camaro driven by Abdurahman Garang Hussein, male, 19 was traveling eastbound at an extremely high rate of speed in the inside lane of West Amarillo Blvd. approaching N Florida St. A 2004 Honda Accord driven by Rocio Castejon, female, 26 was driving northbound on Florida St. Castejon Pulled out from a stop sign but stopped, just in the outside lane of West Amarillo Blvd, when she apparently saw the oncoming Camaro. Huissein failed to maintain a single lane and slammed into the Honda. Rosio Castejon, her unborn child, and her 6-year-old son were killed as a result of the collision. Alcohol and speed are contributing factors in the collision. Hussein was booked into Potter County Sheriff’s Office Jail on 3 charges of Manslaughter. Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor responded and has ordered autopsies on the deceased. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
