Recent Arrest of Elder Abuse Suspect
We would like to extend our gratitude to the community for assisting us in identifying the suspect involved in an incident on Saturday, May 4th. Officers were able to identify and arrest Nicholas Hostetler, a 25-year-old from Campbell, in connection with this incident and an additional incident on May 24.
On Friday, May 24, at approximately 11:23 AM, CPD officers responded to a similar report of battery in the area of Inwood Drive and Elam Avenue. Officers learned that around two hours earlier, a 75-year-old male had been randomly punched in the face while taking a walk. When the victim and his family returned to the area to look for surveillance cameras, they encountered the suspect again, who attempted to fight the family before leaving. Officers immediately began searching for the suspect.
On the morning of Saturday, May 25, CPD officers contacted Hostetler's parents. With their assistance, Hostetler exited his residence and was arrested without further incident. He was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Jail on two counts of elder abuse and for battery on an officer, due to kicking an officer while being booked.
We cannot thank our community enough for their partnership in incidents like these. We can assure you that our officers are working diligently to investigate these incidents to the full extent.
