INCIDENT: Motorcycle vs Sedan Fatal Traffic Crash
LOCATION: Standing Rock Avenue and Blackfoot Road, Apple Valley, CA

DRIVER 2: Robert Witt (68), resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 2: Black 2011 Harley Davidson Road Glide
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 10:27 AM, deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department along with American Medical Response responded to a motorcycle versus sedan traffic crash that occurred on Standing Rock Avenue and Blackfoot Road, in the Town of Apple Valley.
Through investigation, deputies determined a black Harley Davidson was traveling in the westbound lane of Standing Rock Avenue at the intersection with Blackfoot Road. A white Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Pine Ridge Avenue crossing over Standing Rock Avenue to proceed north onto Blackfoot Road. The motorcyclist broadsided the sedan in the intersection. Medical personnel performed life saving measures, however the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are conducting an investigation. Standing Rock Avenue was closed between the intersections of Blackfoot Road and Pine Ridge Avenue for approximately three hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and looked for video surveillance and potential witnesses. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
