* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Clay County in southwestern North Carolina...

* Until 630 AM EDT.

* At 522 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 17 miles southwest of Town Of Santeetlah to near Murphy to 13 miles northwest of Blairsville to near Morganton, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Andrews, Murphy, Hayesville, Nantahala Lake, Shooting Creek, Tusquitee, Topton, Hiawasse Dam, Marble, and Brasstown.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHEROKEE, NC ... CLAY, NC

Instructions:

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 AM EDT for southwestern North Carolina...and east Tennessee.
