Advisory: Springfield Temporary Closure of South End Bridge
Northbound closure from Friday, May 31 to Monday, June 3; southbound closure from Friday, June 14 to Monday, June 17
SPRINGFIELD/AGAWAM- The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be performing a temporary closure of the South End Bridge in Springfield and Agawam during the weekends of Friday, May 31, and Friday, June 14. On the first weekend, the northbound side will be closed, and on the second weekend the southbound side will be closed. During the closures, traffic will be detoured to Memorial Bridge (Route 147) over the Connecticut River.
- The closure is necessary for crews to perform resurfacing operations on the South End Bridge.
- Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays,reduce speed, and use caution.
- Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
- All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
