WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex and Hudson and southeast New York, including the following counties, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Nassau, New York (Manhattan), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Westchester.
WHEN...Until 400 PM EDT. IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 159 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain approaching from the south. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. Localized higher amounts are possible. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Yonkers, Flatbush, New Rochelle, Flushing, Bayonne, Mott Haven, Hoboken, East Tremont, Hackensack, Bergenfield, Paramus, Coney Island, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, Secaucus, Harrison and Rockaway Beach. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
RECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
