On May 25, 2024, at 8:59 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 call where the reporting party alleged that a sex crime had been committed.  Deputies with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the area of the 8000 block of South Meadow Lane near Johnson, Indiana.  Upon arriving on scene deputies began an investigation into the incident.  During the course of the investigation Sergeant Roger Ballard found probable cause to believe that there was acute sexual abuse by an adult on a juvenile.  Upon gathering all evidence a manhunt was conducted to locate 36 year old Matthew Ort of Arizona.  After an approximately 8 hour search Mr. Ort was found in an Evansville area hotel, and taken into custody.  Mr. Ort is being charged with Sexual Misconduct With a Minor.
