INCIDENT: P.C. 487- Grand Theft, P.C. 182(A)(1)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime
LOCATION: 14300 block of Bear Valley Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Candise Joy Powers, 37-year-old Resident of Victorville, Whitney Connie Hart, 34-year-old Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Deputy Greterman responded to JCPenney located in the 14300 block of Bear Valley Road for two suspects who left the store with merchandise without paying.
Both suspects entered JCPenney, filled a cart with merchandise and exited the store without any attempt to pay for the items. The suspects loaded the merchandise into a 2012 Chevrolet and drove off. Deputy Greterman located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the stolen merchandise was located in plain view inside of the vehicle. The suspects, Candise Joy Powers and Whitney Connie Hart were detained. Over $1,000 worth of merchandise was recovered.
Candise Joy Powers and Whitney Connie Hart were arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, for P.C. 487(A)- Grand Theft, and P.C. 182(A)(1)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.
