ELM STREET ROUNDABOUT CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
West Springfield, MA: Paving of the newly constructed roundabout at the intersection of Elm Street and Route 20 (Westfield Street) in West Springfield is scheduled to begin this evening, Tuesday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue overnight. It is likely that the paving will require two nights of overnight work to complete.
Once the paving has been completed, the roundabout will be open for use by the general public, except for heavy duty commercial vehicles at this time. Heavy duty commercial vehicles will remain excluded from the area for approximately another month, to allow the concrete center of the roundabout time to cure.
The paving will include the area of the roundabout as well as sections of Elm Street leading up to the roundabout. Work will continue on the section of Route 20 (Westfield Street) leading up to the roundabout and will be paved at a later date.
The project remains on schedule with the majority of the heavy construction being completed this summer, with finishing work to be completed in the fall.
