South Brunswick Honors Local Veteran With Street Sign Dedication Ceremony
This Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 AM, South Brunswick will hold a Veteran Street Sign Dedication Ceremony at the intersection of Sand Hills Road and Freida Lane in Kendall Park, to honor local Veteran Peter S. Bongiorno. This is the Township’s most recent dedication recognizing local veterans for their military service.
Peter S. Bongiorno enlisted into the United States Army on February 8, 1944 during World War II. He was part of the 5th Infantry anti-tank gun crew, firing tank weapons during combat. He was in the Central Europe Rhineland Battle in Germany and France.
Bongiorno served until his Honorable Discharge on May 4, 1946, with outstanding leadership and courage, receiving the EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge.
