Media Release

Hawai’i Island police are renewing their request for information from the public relative to a 75-year-old Hilo woman who has not been seen or heard from by her family since April 2017. Glynda Evangelista was last seen on Monday, April 24, 2017, on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.

Due to Evangelista’s age and a medical condition requiring medication, she is considered an endangered missing person. Her family continues to seek answers in this case which was reported nearly years 7 ago.

At the time of the initial report, Evangelista was described as being 5-feet-4-inches tall, approximately 200 pounds, medium build with short salt-and-pepper hair, hazel colored eyes, with a fair complexion, and wears prescription glasses.  She was last seen wearing a dark jacket and orange and yellow colored floral dress, carrying a blue backpack.

Police ask anyone with information about Evangelista’s disappearance and/or her whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or Captain Rio Amon-Wilkins of the Area I Criminal Investigation Division at (808) 961-2251 or via email at [email protected].
