Two Injured in Traffic Crash
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on May 29, 2024, at approximately 1528 hours his office was called to investigate a single vehicle personal injury crash on Marcellus Hwy and Griffis Rd, Wayne Township, Cass County, Michigan. Investigation shows that 54-year-old, Decatur, MI resident; Robert Rudd was traveling Westbound on Marcellus Hwy, when the motorcycle he was driving had mechanical issues, which caused Rudd to lose control of his motorcycle crashing into the eastbound lane of the road. Rudd had a passenger, Melisa Menzies, 44-year-old, Elkhart, IN resident, whom went down with the motorcycle as well. Due to injuries, sustained Robert Rudd was transported via MED Flight to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Melisa Menzies sustained injuries and was transported by VBEMS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Rudd and Menzies were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor in this crash.
