The Norwood Police Department is set to begin a crosswalk safety initiative.  Did you know that New Jersey experiences a disproportionate number of pedestrian injury crashes and fatalities compared to the nation as a whole?  To address this, we plan to increase police patrols at high pedestrian trafficked areas in the community.  During these patrols, warnings and summonses will be issued to motorists and pedestrians whose actions put pedestrians at risk.  The purpose of this initiative is to preserve life while eliminating death and serious bodily injury to our most vulnerable on the roadway. Motorists and pedestrians who are stopped for violations will be given the attached informational pamphlets.  Please watch the brief video below:
