Yesterday, the Janesville Police Department celebrated the promotions of three Lieutenants and two sergeants. Five outstanding individuals earned their promotions through hard work, dedication, and many sacrifices throughout their careers. This was an exciting day not only for those being promoted but for their families as well.
 
Sergeant Jimmy Holford III was promoted to Lieutenant on first shift patrol. Lieutenant Holford III is a 17-year veteran of the Janesville Police Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Military University. Lieutenant Holford III has experience in the following areas: Field Training Supervisor, Street Crimes Unit, SWAT Team, Sniper, High-Risk Offender Team Supervisor, Crisis Intervention Team Supervisor, SWAT Commander, and Community Service Specialist Supervisor.
 
Sergeant Steven Carpenter was promoted to Lieutenant on second shift patrol. Lieutenant Carpenter is a 19-year veteran of the Janesville Police Department. He holds an associate degree from Blackhawk Technical College. Lieutenant Carpenter has experience in the following areas: Honor Guard Team, Technology Representative, Badger Trac Administrator, Crisis Intervention Team, Field Training Officer, Traffic Crash reconstructionist, Field Training Coordinator, Drone Program Supervisor, and General Order Committee.
 
Sergeant Robert Perkins II was promoted to Lieutenant on third shift patrol. Lieutenant Perkins II is a 16-year veteran of the Janesville Police Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ripon College. Lieutenant Perkins II has experience in the following areas: Bicycle Officer, Domestic Violence Intervention Team Supervisor, SWAT Team, Street Crimes Unit, Gang Abatement Team, Defense and Arrest Tactics Instructor, Taser Instructor, Integrating Communications Assessment and Tactics Instructor, and Special Events Coordinator.
 
Officer Jeremy Wiley was promoted to a sergeant on second shift patrol. Sergeant Wiley is an 8-year veteran of the Janesville Police Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Upper Iowa University. Sergeant Wiley has experience in the following areas: High-Risk Offender Team, Bearcat Driver, Field Training Officer, SWAT Team, SWAT Assistant Team Leader, Range Officer, Range Coordinator, and General Order Committee.
 
Officer Matthew Zimborski was promoted to sergeant on second shift patrol. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. Sergeant Zimborski has experience in the following areas: High-Risk Offender Team, Drug Recognition Expert, Street Crimes Unit, and SWAT Team.
 
All were honored yesterday in a promotional ceremony at City Hall. Join us in celebrating the achievements of our newly promoted employees and welcome them as they transition into their new positions.
