ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Davis was arraigned in front of Amsterdam City Court Judge Lisa W.Lorman and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics occurring within the City of Amsterdam theAmsterdam Police Department with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Wednesday May 29th at 55 Greene Street in the City of Amsterdam. During the search of the residence detectives located and seized a quantity ofcrack cocaine, heroin, and paraphernalia associated with the trafficking of narcotics. A loaded shotgun was also located inside the residence. Amsterdam Policealso located and arrested a resident of the home, Johannon A. Davis who was the target of the investigation. Davis had active pending felony charges after selling a controlled substance to a police source during an active drug investigation. Davis was transported to Amsterdam Police Headquarters where he was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
