Street Closures for the Upcoming Resurfacing Project

Dear Resident,
Milestone Contractors, in conjunction with the City of East Chicago, will begin the improvement project of,
Canal Port Ave. from Alexander Ave. to Garfield Pl.
Garfield Pl. from Canal Port Ave. to Michigan Ave.Main St. from Broadway St. to 136th St.
140th Pl. from Butternut St. to Catalpa St.
Commonwealth Ave. from Guthrie Ave. to Ontario Court
Milestone plans to restrict both sides of the roadway starting on/after Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, as part of phase 2 of this project. If you receive this letter, you may be in an area where construction will cause traveling conflicts. We will begin with sidewalk and curb removal and replacement. We have a marked out for removal in pink. No parking signs will be placed and we ask you not to park at those locations. Once we have completed all removal and replacement of concrete curb and sidewalk we will begin milling and paving. At that time, “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours before construction throughout the entire street and we ask that you park in driveways or adjacent side streets during the possible work hours of Monday through Saturday, 6am to 7pm.
