Traffic Stop Search Turns up Fentanyl
Detective Adam Burnette with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 40-year-old Michael Lee Sexton with felonious Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. Sexton was issued a Written Promise to Appear.
On February 12th, detectives were patrolling the Nebo area and stopped a vehicle for failing to display a license plate. K9 Kessy alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The passenger, identified as Sexton, was arrested for outstanding warrants. A search of his person turned up an unknown substance. NC State Crime lab results determined it to be fentanyl. Sexton was located and arrested on May 22nd.
