Las Vegas Man Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Assault on a Deputy After Lengthy Pursuit through California and Nevada

LOCATION: 2451 Needles Highway, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Daniel Waggoner, 31-year-old male, resident of Las Vegas
VICTIM(S): San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff
SUMMARY: On Monday, June 3, 2024, at approximately 10:00 P.M., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Colorado River Station, received a call for service regarding theft of a vehicle that occurred at the Shell Gas station in the city of Needles. Responding deputies received the stolen vehicle's description and immediately located the vehicle entering Interstate 40 eastbound.
Deputies attempted to conduct a stop of the vehicle, but the suspect, Daniel Waggoner, failed to yield to deputies. Waggoner led deputies on a high-speed pursuit for approximately 90 miles through the unincorporated area of San Bernardino County and the city of Needles and into Searchlight, Nevada.
During the pursuit, Waggoner drove the vehicle recklessly and used it to ram the pursuing deputies. With the assistance of the Nevada Highway Patrol, Boulder City Police, and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, deputies and officers concluded the pursuit safely on U.S. Highway 95 just south of Searchlight, Nevada. Waggoner was later arrested pending several felony charges in the states of Nevada and California. No civilians or deputies were injured during this incident.
