At approximately 1:46 PM on June 5, 2024, officers with the Arroyo Grande Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of W. Branch Street for a report of an attempted vehicle theft and vehicle break-in.

The suspect vehicle left the area prior to the arrival of officers, but a "Be On the Lookout" was broadcast to local law enforcement agencies.

At approximately 5:22 PM, officers with the Grover Beach Police Department located the occupied suspect vehicle in their city and attempted a traffic stop.  The suspect vehicle fled east on Grand Avenue.  Officers pursued the vehicle to Highway 101 but discontinued the pursuit for the safety of bystanders.

At approximately 5:55 PM, officers with the Pismo Beach Police Department located the suspect vehicle unoccupied in their city.  The vehicle was determined to have been reported stolen from Fresno, CA.

Detectives with the Arroyo Grande Police Department located a male, Daniel Ibarra, walking in the area of Oak Park Boulevard and James Way.  Ibarra, a 41-year-old resident of Fresno, was identified as a suspect in the case and placed under arrest for the following charges:
182(a)(1) PC - Conspiracy
664/10851 CVC - Attempted Vehicle Theft
496(a) PC - Possession of Stolen Property
530.5(a) PC - Identity Theft

A short time later a female, Corina Medrano, was also located in the same area.  Medrano, a 32-year-old resident of Fresno, was also identified as a suspect in this case.  She was placed under arrest for two outstanding felony warrants and the following charges:
182(a)(1) PC - Conspiracy
664/10851 CVC - Attempted Vehicle Theft
496(a) PC - Possession of Stolen Property
148.9(a)(1) PC - Providing False Identification to a Peace Officer
11364(a) HS - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
