Cass County Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that on 6/6/2024 at 5:42 P.m. his deputies responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Monette St and Oil City Rd in Jefferson Township.  The investigation shows that Allison Sharp, 33-years-old of Elkhart, was driving northbound on Oil City Rd when she disregarded the stop sign at the intersection with Monette St.  Christopher Coates, aged 33 from Cassopolis, happened to be passing through that intersection traveling east on Monette.  Sharp struck Coates’ truck, causing it to roll over.
SMCAS transported Sharp and her passenger, Constance Sharp, to Elkhart General Hospital for minor injuries. 
All parties were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol/drugs were not a factor in the crash.  This incident remains under investigation.
