Tim Mattos, Director 500 CITY CENTER DRIVE  ROHNERT PARK, CALIFORNIA  94928-2118 Phone (707) 584-2600 Fax (707) 584-2683 PRESS RELEASE

Narcotics Use Burns Man, Activates Sprinkler System at Rohnert Park Hotel For Immediate Release Case #: 24-1765 Sunday, June 9, 2024 1:00 p.m. Contact: Sergeant Justin Wax – (707) 588-3545 On 6/9/2024 at approximately 1032 hours, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) received a notification of a waterflow fire alarm at the Inn Rohnert Park (5040 Redwood Drive, Rohnert Park). RPDPS Police and Fire personnel arrived on scene within one minute and located a second-story hotel room with the sprinkler system activated. An adult male associated with the hotel room in question was located near the room with burns. The preliminary investigation determined that the adult male was engaging in the use of illegal narcotics, which led to the clothing he was wearing catching on fire. The adult male received significant burns to his arms and the front of his torso. He was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for the burn injuries. The fire triggered the hotel’s fire protection system (in-room sprinkler system). Numerous other residents were displaced due to subsequent water damage from the activated sprinkler system. This investigation is ongoing. RPDPS asks for anyone that has additional information about this incident to contact Officer Gary Uboldi at (707) 588-3535.
