Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident following an investigation.
On May 3, at approximately 3:59 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1300 block of Chestnut Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 22-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation. Detective Wilkers identified 20-year-old Calir Giddings as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On June 7, Giddings was taken into custody without incident.
Giddings has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $136,000 cash-only bail.
