The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JUNE 3, 2024: 
6:10 AM Officer Orozco investigated a vehicle theft at Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard.
 
6:38 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft near Rockrose & Marguerite Drives.  
 
12:02 PM Officer Taylor responded to a vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & Cedar Court. Entry was made via window smash, loss included golf equipment.  
 
3:46 PM Officer Williams was dispatched to a vehicle burglary on the 5600 block of Primula Terrace. The rear windshield was shattered with a reported loss of automotive equipment.
 
7:25 PM Officer McCuin recognized a pedestrian on active probation on Newpark Mall Road. A 42-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was arrested for narcotics and released on scene with a citation.
 
8:23 PM Officers were dispatched to the area of Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard for several window-smash vehicle burglaries. Loss included tools, hardware and landscaping equipment.
 
TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 2024: 
6:52 AM Officer Williams responded to the area of Enterprise Drive & Filbert Street regarding a commercial vandalism. A 40-year-old unsheltered male on active probation was contacted in the area. He was arrested for narcotics and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:46 AM Officer Piquette investigated a vehicle burglary near Sycamore & Filbert Streets. The driver’s side window was shattered with no reported loss.
 
9:14 AM Officer Losier responded to a suspicious person seen near Spadefoot Avenue & Dragonfly Street. Upon investigation, a 43-year-old male from Newark was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
11:54 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft in the area of Cherry Street and Baine Avenue.
 
1:04 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a theft on the 6400 block of Market Street. A 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for theft and public intoxication.
 
3:45 PM Officer Williams was dispatched to a trespassing call near Ruschin Drive & Newark Boulevard. A 34-year-old male from Newark was arrested for an outstanding warrant and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:13 PM Officers were dispatched to the area of Dairy Avenue & Cherry Street for a disturbance. A 25-year-old male from Newark was arrested for intoxication, assaulting a peace officer, vandalizing a cellphone and imprisonment. He was subsequently transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
11:20 PM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle burglary near Sycamore Street & Thornton Avenue. The door lock was discovered to be forced open with no known loss reported.
 
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5, 2024: 
2:40 AM Officer McCuin recovered a stolen vehicle near Birch Street & Robertson Avenue.
 
7:40 AM Officer S. Torres recovered a stolen vehicle near Joaquin Murieta Avenue & Cherry Street.  
 
12:52 PM Officers were initially dispatched to an active vehicle burglary and ultimately investigated a vehicle theft on the 1000 block of Newpark Mall Road.
 
3:17 PM Officer S. Torres recovered a stolen vehicle near Central Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. Additionally, a 48-year-old male from Newark was cited on scene for narcotics.
 
10:41 PM Officers responded to the 38700 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 29-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was arrested for multiple charges including domestic violence, false imprisonment, and violating the terms of probation. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2024: 
2:54 PM Officers investigated a vehicle theft near Haley Street & Orleans Drive.  
 
9:27 PM Officer C. Torres investigated an attempted vehicle theft in the area of Rochelle Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. The vehicle’s lock was drilled out, with no known loss.
 
FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2024: 
4:17 AM Officers responded to the report of a vehicle theft in progress near Willow Street & Enterprise Drive. The vehicle was located and recovered. Additionally, a 32-year-old male from Newark was arrested for possession of narcotics and released on scene with a citation.
 
5:01 AM Officer Kim investigated a battery that occurred on the 38700 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 59-year-old unsheltered male was arrested for domestic violence and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
3:00 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau recovered a stolen vehicle on the 37000 block of Hickory Street.
 
3:53 PM Officers located a moving stolen vehicle in the area of Stevenson Boulevard and Cherry Street. A 54-year-old female from Newark was arrested for resisting arrest, and a 30-year-old male from Newark was transferred to the custody of Fremont Police Department.
 
5:00 PM CSO Lau responded to the report of a vehicle theft near Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard.
 
5:53 PM Officer Stevenson recovered a stolen vehicle near Robertson Avenue & Rockspray Street.
 
7:50 PM Officer Orozco investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road & Alpenrose Court. A driver side window was smashed resulting in the loss of a backpack.
 
8:08 PM Officer Swadener contacted a subject parked on Robertson Avenue & Cherry Street. A 38-year-old male from East Palo Alto was arrested for possession of narcotics, identity theft and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2024: 
12:21 AM Officer Kim was dispatched to a vehicle theft that occurred in the area of Newark Boulevard & Lafayette Avenue.
 
8:12 AM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Hermitage Avenue & Burning Tree Drive.
 
2:37 PM Officer Stevenson responded to a disturbance in the area of Dragonfly Street & Spadefoot Avenue. A 30-year-old male from Newark was arrested for corporal injury and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
9:43 PM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Newpark Mall Road & Alpenrose Court. A window was shattered with no known loss reported.
 
9:47 PM Officers responded to the area of Indian Wells Drive & Bettencourt Street to ascertain the welfare of a person in a tree. A 29-year-old unsheltered male from Newark was arrested for possession of narcotics, burglary tools and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2024: 
11:49 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle burglary and attempted vehicle theft on the 39800 block of Balentine Drive. The rear door lock was pried open along with ignition component damage.
 
11:58 AM Officer S. Torres was dispatched to a vehicle theft that occurred near Parada Street & Stevenson Boulevard.
 
2:16 PM Officer S. Torres responded to a disturbance near Newark & Cedar Boulevards. A 39-year-old unsheltered male from Fremont was arrested for possession of narcotics and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
10:41 PM Officer C. Torres responded to Cedar & Stevenson Boulevards on the report of a theft. A 30-year-old male from Hayward was arrested for grand theft, narcotics, and outstanding warrants. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
