Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks the public’s assistance with identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Friday, May 31, 2024.
At approximately 8:33 p.m., Police responded to Jackson Street and Market Street on a call of an aggravated assault. A cleaning service driver blew his horn at a group of people who were blocking his pathway inside Riverview Park. After the group moved, an unknown African American male threw a glass bottle through the driver-side window of the cleaning service vehicle, striking the victim in the head and causing bleeding. The suspect fled on foot. EMS arrived to evaluate the victim at the scene.
Detectives investigating this incident request the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect. He is described as in his late twenties to early thirties. He was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes, and was carrying a black Adidas duffle bag.
