Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with multiple armed robbery incidents following investigation:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with multiple armed robbery incidents following an investigation.
On May 21, at approximately 2:34 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 200 block of South Heald Street, in reference to an armed robbery complaint. On May 23, at approximately 8:20 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 300 block of South Walnut Street, in reference to an armed robbery complaint. On May 25, at approximately 2:42 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 300 block of South Walnut Street, in reference to an armed robbery complaint. On May 27, at approximately 12:04 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street, in reference to an armed robbery complaint. These cases were assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 54-year-old Devearl Bacon as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On June 6, at approximately 7:15 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division took Bacon into custody without incident.
Bacon has been charged with the following offenses:
- Robbery (First Degree) – Four Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Three Counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
