Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on June 11, 2024 at approximately 07:50am deputies of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (MI) were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Pine Lake St. east of Dailey Rd in Cass County’s Jefferson Township.  Niles resident, 33 year-old Kieffer Thornton was traveling east on Pine Lake St when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway striking several trees.  Thornton was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Thornton was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries.  Assisting at the scene was SMACAS ambulance and Edwardsburg Fire Department.
